FILL THE HELMET
FIRE PREVENTION/EDUCATION PROP GIVE-AWAY PROGRAM GUIDELINES

These guidelines set the requirements for eligibility for the Burns Recovered Support Group (BRSG) Fire Prevention/Education Give-Away Program.  To be eligible, an organization (fire department or ambulance district) has to participate in Fill the Helmet for the amount of years required, inclusive of the current collection year.  To be eligible for the "current collection year", the organization's Fill the Helmet event has to take place prior to June 1 of that year and the donation has to be received by BRSG prior to June 15.  BRSG reserves the right to determine all eligibility requirements.

If all guidelines are met, the fire prevention/education prop becomes the property of the organization.  If fulfillment is not met after receiving the prop, the prop must be returned to BRSG.  The prop is to be in good working order upon said return as per Memorandum of Understanding.

All organizations receiving a fire prevention/education prop must file a quarterly report to BRSG listing:

  1. how many times the prop was used,
  2. how many people attended the educational event
  3. the ages of the people in attendance.

Should a report not be turned in for one year, the organization will have to return the prop in good working order as per Memorandum of Understanding.

Continued participation with Fill the Helmet is required for complete and permanent ownership as set within the guidelines.

It is also required that the organization agrees to loan the fire prevention/education prop to other departments upon request.

Organizations will be ineligible for one year after winning from the Fill the Helmet Fire Prevention/Education Give-Away drawing.

Value of Prop Requirements
$3000 or more 2 years consecutive collection for eligibility
3 years additional consecutive collection for ownership
$1000-$2999 2 years consecutive collection for eligibility
2 years additional consecutive collection for permanent ownership
$1000 or less 2 years consecutive collection for eligibility
1 year additional consecutive collection for permanent ownership

The goal of BRSG, as stated in our Mission Statement, continues to be to help "educate the public in burn awareness and prevention".  There is no better partner to obtain this goal than those in fire service.

In the attempt of BRSG to make participation in this program as fair as possible, this give-away will be conducted at the luncheon for Fill the Helmet.  The give-away will be done as a lottery with the names of all eligible organizations in a helmet.  The winning organizations will then draw the name of the prop they will receive from another helmet.
